For a work that educates: youth and competences for transitions

In this problematic framework, it is then a question of laying the foundations for to develop human potential, guaranteeing a reduction in unemployment and drop-out rates and an increase in good, creative, supportive work. Notably, shifting focus from credentialism to actual learning outcomes (Torlone 2023) and designing diverse training pathways that reflect current transformations (Spagnuolo 2004) are crucial. This applies to both content and the organizational and teaching methods used, whether traditional or innovative, and is a privileged way of emphasising the central role of the person in a cyclic interaction between theory and practice.

Abstract

Recognizing the need to view education as both lifelong and lifewide underscores the importance of professional settings as spaces where people can discover their talents and inclinations, fostering both personal and social fulfillment. This aspect urges organizations of all types and sizes to equip individuals with the competences and ethical values needed to continually adapt work processes with a focus on sustainability, understood as a virtuous balance between environmental protection, economic productivity, and human well-being. In particular, the development of new professions in a rapidly changing job market, characterized by high levels of uncertainty, calls for a proper understanding of the relationship between young people and work. It also highlights the importance of the personal, intersubjective, and context-specific dimensions of learning, within a circular dynamic between theory and practice.

Abstract

La consapevolezza circa la necessità di dover pensare l’educazione in termini lifelong e lifewide attribuisce rilevanza ai contesti professionali quali luoghi in cui le persone hanno la possibilità di fare emergere inclinazioni e talenti in vista di una piena realizzazione personale e sociale. Tale aspetto sollecita le organizzazioni, di ogni tipologia e dimensione, a dotare le persone di competenze e valori etico-morali idonei a una costante riorganizzazione del lavoro nella prospettiva della sostenibilità, da intendersi quale sintesi virtuosa tra tutela ambientale, produttività economica, benessere umano. In modo particolare, lo sviluppo di nuove professionalità in un mercato occupazionale caratterizzato da velocità di trasformazione ed elevate soglie di incertezza sollecita a semantizzare in modo appropriato il rapporto tra giovani e lavoro e attribuisce valore alle dimensioni personali, intersoggettive e concretamente situate dell’apprendimento, in un andamento circolare teoria-prassi.
